Towards a new future

There are moments in life that mark a before and an after. For a group of 39 young people in the process of reintegration, that moment came thanks to the Royal Holiday Foundation, which through the Vacations for All project and in partnership with Reinserta, led them to live an unforgettable experience at the YMCA Camohmila camp, in Tepoztlán, Morelos. This initiative not only offered a respite, but also a safe and transformative space for those who have faced difficult realities from an early age.

“It was cool how they build up your confidence, you make teams with everyone, no matter how they are and you learn to get through things, have a good time, and be happy”. — Francisco, beneficiary of the Reinserta Social Reintegration Program

In addition to the young people involved in the social reintegration program, the beneficiaries of CEMEPA (Centro Especializado en Medidas de Externamiento para Adolescentes) and CEP (Centro Especializado de Prevención), institutions dedicated to the care and prevention of juvenile delinquency, also participated. Through recreational activities, such as the “Lifeline” and the “Night of Stars”, the beneficiaries were able to reflect on their history and visualize new possibilities for their future.

“Seriously, thanks a lot for giving young people who haven’t had a violence-free life a chance and for creating experiences that help them grow. You guys have no idea how much you contribute to what they’re going through”. — Karen, Reinserta social worker

During their time there, they swam, climbed walls, participated in rallies and shared moments of laughter, companionship and overcoming. Each activity strengthened skills such as teamwork, communication and self-confidence.

More than a vacation, this camp was an opportunity to reconnect with their inner selves and remember that there is always a different way to go. Because everyone deserves a second chance to build a better tomorrow.
