Moments of hope and family unity

Ninety-five people from a marginalized community in Chimalhuacán who are dedicated to garbage collection and separation had the opportunity to take a break from their routine, strengthen family ties, and create unforgettable memories at the YMCA Camohmila Camp in Tepoztlán, Morelos. This experience was made possible through a partnership with the Fundación de Apoyo a la Educación (FAE), which supports children living in extreme poverty by providing education and food to improve their living conditions and equip them with tools for a better future.

It wasn’t only the children who enjoyed this experience; they were accompanied by their mothers, aunts, and grandmothers who, through games, challenges, and laughter, discovered new physical and mental abilities. For many of the children, it was their first time diving into a pool, experiencing the excitement of playing in the water, and learning to swim. Later, music at the disco party got them dancing, and on the last night, the warmth of a bonfire brought everyone together to sing, share laughter, and roast marshmallows.

More than just a camp, this vacation experience was a breath of joy and togetherness that will remain engraved in their hearts.
