In partnership with the John Langdon Down Foundation, a group of young people experienced magical days at Camohmila YMCA Camp in Tepoztlán, Morelos. In this incredible camp getaway, 27 young people with intellectual disabilities along with their mothers and fathers, enjoyed space for connection, learning, and joy. For many, it was their first camp—an experience that strengthened family ties and left unforgettable memories.

I saw another facet of my son and how much he has grown in all aspects. The activities carried out these days helped us strengthen our confidence.”

At this camp, they swam, enjoyed sports games, and expressed their creativity by drawing a mural together. They also prepared lemon pie in a cooking class and had one of the most special nights: Disco Night, where they danced non-stop. The perfect closing was the campfire, filled with laughs, songs and roasted marshmallows.

“I liked the disco night and being with my friends. After this trip I’m happier.”

The John Langdon Down Foundation has been a pillar in education, healthcare and psychological support for these young people with Down syndrome and their families. Through this camp, they were able to support their work, and the young people returned with their hearts full of happiness. Undoubtedly, their joy left its mark on their families, the counselors of the YMCA Camohmila, and the team at the Royal Holiday Foundation.
