Signs of empathy

When words are not enough, love finds its own language.  This is how Royal Holiday Foundation, through the Vacations for All project, demonstrated its empathy to 48 deaf girls and boys from the Instituto Pedagógico para Problemas de Lenguaje  (IPPLIAP) to live an unforgettable weekend in a camp with Colonias de Vacaciones.

During those days, the little ones enjoyed activities designed for them: they created a colorful mural, sang, danced, participated in a fun rally and, during their nap, they received a magical surprise: the volunteers left them a bag of sweets next to their pillow.

“I learned to play and draw.” Eliud, deaf boy from IPPLIAP

Eight Royal Holiday volunteers accompanied them on this adventure, after preparing with dedication for four sessions in which they learned Mexican Sign Language. Thanks to this, they were able to communicate, share and connect with these children in a language that transcends words. Together with the activities coordinators of Colonias de Vacaciones, the volunteers created scenarios full of color and emotion, turning every moment into an unforgettable experience.

“This experience allowed me to become aware of children who have hearing disabilities and to learn a little bit of Mexican Sign Language. Thank you for allowing me to contribute a little.” Kelly, Royal Holiday volunteer

This camp was a sign that love is also expressed beyond words, because when it comes to giving smiles, there are no barriers that the heart cannot break down.
