Growing through play

Summer means freedom, discovery and friendships that can last a lifetime, especially for these children. In a wonderful collaboration with Colonias de Vacaciones, we were able to give 166 children a five-day camp designed not only for maximum fun, but also to help them develop valuable life skills, independence and personal responsibility surrounded by nature.

Away from their families and daily routines, the children enjoyed days filled with laughter, playing in the mud, having water-balloon battles and painting their faces. All the water activities quickly became the absolute favorites of the day.

Creativity also had a very special place. Through a variety of arts and crafts workshops, the children made keepsakes with their own hands and proudly brought them home. Eating outside surrounded by nature added a magical touch to each day, while camp songs echoed from beginning to end, setting the rhythm for this adventure.

Beyond entertainment, the camp naturally encouraged a sense of responsibility and independence. The children learned practical self-care and community-living skills, such as taking care of their belongings and making their own beds every morning, feeling proud of their growing independence.

A key factor in the success of this camp was the deep bond the children developed with their counselors. The team’s empathy, care and dedication helped every kid feel safe, heard and valued. When night fell, the traditional campfire brought everyone together to sing, give thanks and celebrate a vacation that undoubtedly left an unforgettable mark on their hearts.
